PGSS Co occupies about 413 Hectares of land in Persian Gulf Special Industrial Zone, Bandar Abbas.
For the first time in Iran PGSS is going to produce Hot Briquette Iron (HBI) which is convenient for export.
Using hot charge of DRI into EAF, PGSS will save the energy and reduce production time. This will result in cost reduction thus increase the competitiveness of the company.
Some detail about PGSS Company product:
. Fe total: 92%
. Fe metallic: 84.6%
. Metallization: 92%
Advantageous of Hot Briquette Iron (HBI) against DRI
. High bulk density can hold more quantity on charge bucket in comparison to scrap.
. Known, consistent chemistry certified by the producer unlike scrap which may vary.
. Minimal trace elements like Cu, Ni, Cr, Mo, Sn, Pb, and V in comparison to scrap.
. High thermal and electrical conductivity.
. Not prone to accident due to self-heating unlike DRI
. Low re activity with fresh and salt water (re-oxidation).
. Resistant to degradation due to handling and weathering.
. Compatible with all bulk materials handling equipment.

The production of steel in Iran has been continually increased in recent years. In the year 2015 the country ranked as 14th, among world steel producers with production of 16.1 MT of crude steel.
Having domestic resources of iron ore and natural gas and enjoying of well trained and skilled man power Iran has high potential of satisfying domestic market needs as well as export to abroad customers.
In this regard SABA STEEL plays a major role to supply HBI, as semi product, to satisfy the needs of domestic and foreign steel producers. In next steps of expansion SABA STEEL will establish downstream production lines to produce 4.5 MTPY of final flat and long steel products to end users.
